Mild frustrations

What is it with me and fandoms? First RW terminally pisses me off, now Naruto is edging that way for me.

There’s a few guys on the Official Naruto thread on Gaia Online who are so damned dogmatic it’s impossible to have a conversation or a debate about something or a character they don’t like. It’s the whole homogeneous opinion bullshit all over again. Wasting energy despising a fictional character too. If you disagree, it’s cause for personal insults and mocking in chat speak.

I really hate to pull back because it’s one of the only Gaia Online threads I’ve actually enjoyed for the most part. I know everywhere is going to have trolls, but it doesn’t mean I have to put up with it.

Anyway, no news on the job I applied for yet. That’s either a good thing or a bad thing, depending on my mood. The listing is still up, so it’s probably going to be a while. In other news, I got a whopping $600 of student refund money, so I think I’m going to buy Adobe Photoshop and maybe Illustrator. (Depends on if I can buy the student versions.) It might help me if I get to interview and say, “In anticipation for this position and to provide the best services possible, I began training in Photoshop and Illustrator.”

New level of anime geek

Oh yes, I have stooped to a whole new low of Naruto fangirlishness. For kicks, I made a vector version of the skill wheel found in the Japanese Naruto databooks.

I even got translations so each of the points has the correct label. And then? I figured out the skill levels for my fan characters. Oh yes, I am bad. And then Jass did his team (the ones in his ficlet “The Mission”) too.

And then? While we were on a roll, we did our favorite canon characters using the databooks.

I don’t think it gets much worse than this, ladies and gentlemen. ^^;

Yes, we didn’t have class today.
Yes, we are bored while waiting for chapter 338.
And yes, we are in the upper echelons of geekdom.

(If anyone wants a blank copy of my wheel, you’ll have to ask me for it. I’ve been encountering a bit too many rips and art theft lately to just pop it up.)

*GLOMP* And I completely forgot to mention this, but we loved the postcard, Ook! *super tackle glomps*

Remind me if I’m trying to get into a chat on Gaia: Lie about my age. Just out and out lie. I think 19 will be good. I miss being 19.

It’s like the kiss of death admitting you’re an adult on there. I’m not looking to do anything bad/nasty/wrong, I just wanted to chat about anime I like!

Naruto: Kurama Arc (203 – 207)

Flamed… ?

Did I… I just get flamed over on DeviantArt for expressing that I liked someone’s artwork?

I was tired from my homework last night and decided to go on the prowl for artwork of my favorite Naruto character, Shino.

I found one 100106 – shino. by The-Pie and added it to my favorites, commenting:

“Okay, I won’t say kawaii. How about :+fav:? =D”

And she responds that my comment has nothing to do with the picture itself and it “annoys the fuck out of [her].” Thing is, her comments are set to “critique discouraged” and there are a million juvenille comments on the picture. But a comment saying I was adding it to my favorites gets me flamed?

*sigh* People make my teeth itch.

Molly the Beagle

Okay, I’m officially disgusted. Earlier this evening, I put Luna out to do her business. Now, she’s a very shy dog and really doesn’t care for beings other than her people, so when I see her coming back up to the door and looking really nervous, it’s an almost instant to realize that there’s either a strange human or a strange dog in the yard.

Well, this evening, she comes right back to the door after I put her out. I ask her what the problem was, and she drops into a point. And what’s at the end of her point? The neighbor’s beagle, Molly.

So, I call Mom and Jass over and let them know as I put Luna in. Seeing a wide open door, Molly bolts. I intercept. After a bit of shouting and attempting to figure out if the neighbor’s home or if we can tuck her inside somehow, we decide to let Molly in. (At this point, we’re taking the neighbor’s word on it back when we met her that Molly was an Indoor-Dog.) Well, at first it goes well.

If you call “well” Luna nearly going neurotic because she’s so shy and doesn’t exactly care for her rear – or any of the rest of her – being sniffed. Nor does she like her water dish being drank out of. She didn’t mind her playing with her old tennis balls, but she was doing her best to take care of her plushies.

It’s finally time to go to bed and we take both dogs outside to do their business. Luna does her thing and gets ready in her fashion. Molly, meanwhile has been let out and back in numerous times over the past hours. Each time she “asked” to go out, we humored her and put her out. Anyway… Mom goes to bed. Jasson goes to bed. I’m still up taking care of some last-minute e-mailing. All of a sudden my mom bellows “Oh, Shit!” and that was precisely what she meant. After all those outs, Molly dumps on the carpet.

Well, to make a long story short so I can be up at 5:40am EST to go to work… Molly went home and got put on her chain by her doghouse. She doesn’t seem to be as “Indoor” as we were told. And I, frankly, am disgusted. If I had known, I would have just grabbed the first pair of shoes by the door and had taken her right to her doghouse myself.

Wallpaper Finished

Finished the wallpaper that goes with this set. ^_^ Isn’t the most impressive; but it’s done. Once I could get my .zip file creator program to actually crunch the files for me, I’ll post them. I’ve saved them in high quality .jpg format in 1024×768, 800×600, and 640×480 resolutions. I still have the original source file too, so I could possibly go larger.

If anyone’s interested here’s the rundown on what’s featured in this layout (IF you can find them!):
- Samurai Troopers (3 images)
- Yu-Gi-Oh! (3 Images)
- X/1999 (1 Image)
- Non-Anime (5 Images), including a page of Illuminated, celtic-style text, photograph of lightning, and one LoTR image.

There. I did something with Legacies. I’m sorry guys, but I don’t really have time to play right now. :-( If you guys want to reassign groups or just try a different idea than the one I came up with, go ahead. If you want me to choose someone and give them Admin powers over the board, I’ll do so. *hugs* Sorry. Still not sure what you guys want me to do with Nic Jean’s character though :-(

Work has just been a bitch with my time lately. I haven’t had much of a day off in recent times… I mean, heck… normally I get to see Yugioh on Saturday mornings, but all I got to see was the 8am showing. I know that Malik shows up, well… Cameo type thingy as he does the puppit-thang with Bandit Keith, but I missed the next episode. Fantasy, you may have me at Kaaza yet! I’m spending most of my time trying to get rested so I can survive the next day at work, so my internet time has shrunk down to checking my mail. At least my paychecks are semi-decent…. I did get to go shopping and repair a little of my wardrobe last week. Got several tops, a load of underwear, and a couple low-rise, boot cut jeans. (Pretty decent, not those horrifically exaggerated things I’d been finding. Boot cut isn’t Bell-Bottoms, despite what some designers seem to be thinking) ^_^ Now just to get that Debit Card so I can do a little shopping online. Want to make it to Grand Rapids soon… one of my favorite Craft Shops is having a massive sale and I/we want to splurge a little. That and I want a few more clothes… it feels good to start getting clothes that actually fit me. Now to stop drooling at those black, leather pants I found at this one store. ^^;;

Listing to “Plane of Time” and “Plane of Earth” themes from the new EQ expansion… I really love those. ^_^ The latter has this really cool Egyptian-sounding thing going, which drives me right back to my Yugioh fetish. I really want to play-play, but everytime I intend on coming on I’m too tired to even want to to much with the computer, let alone seriously play. Ah well *hugs everyone*
