Trailers and Trashed Houses

Monday, August 2nd, 2004

Went to go look at houses today. The only two in our price range were a tiny house in Solon Twp., Kent County MI and a nice trailer in a Trailer park in Sparta.

Lets just say it wasn’t a hard choice.

Solon was utterly trashed. The poor house had been run litterly into the ground. There was moss and fungus growing on the roof, the roof overall was sagging, the back step was simply a piece of half-rotter plywood. It was ugly. It really was. About the most you could do with it in terms of rennovation was to torch it.

The trailer, on the other hand, was really nice. I mean really nice. It was a touch on the older side, but no older than 10 years maybe. It had two bathrooms, and a good 1500 sq. feet of living space.

Yeah. Real hard choice.

We made an offer on it, of $35,000 which is a good $7,900 down from their asking price. After closing we have bills, taxes, etc. that need to be paid so we won’t have much more after that point to barter with. Not only are we asking for $7,900 less than what they’re asking… we’ve set close on August 12 with only 10 days after close for them to get out. And let me tell you, I am utterly terrified. I am scared out of my fucking mind. They have until 9pm EST tomorrow to respond and I’m really frightened that they won’t take it… or that the people coming through to look at it after we went through will offer something juicier. *shakes her head* Only other option I can think of is to back out of the sale with HomeVestors, fire Conrad, and relist with a more competent agent for $50,000 – $63,000. Either way, we’re running out of time, patience, and hope.

Update

Friday, July 23rd, 2004

Okay, here’s the deal. We’re probably not going to be renting after all. Poppa advised me to advise mom not to do that. At the rate those go, we’d never be able to keep our heads above water. So, that leaves that house in Solon Twp OR the Trailor we were originally looking at; both are around $40,000 and both fit our usual thing.

“Our Usual Thing” is just a pattern we’ve noticed from all of our home buying. The way it ends up working out is: The first house we find, but say “No” to is the one we end up taking anyway and really liking. It happened when we moved up to Mt. Pleasant but didn’t happen here. So, since the Trailor and the house up in Solon Twp were the two we originally looked at and have said “No” to – one of them is probably it. Might as well not break a good pattern. ^_^ Afterall, the last time we broke it – we ended up in this hell-hole.

We walked down to the Ionia Free Fair yesterday. Not very impressive. Then again, most everything has lost it’s ability to impress us. The only thing we really had a good laugh about was some storage sheds, outbuildings, etc. We’re so fed up, living in one of those doesn’t seem too bad!!

Ring-A-Ding-Ding!

It’s a beautiful thing!

Ding!!!! Our house is going to finally sell!

We received an offer for $75,000 today, less comission will take us to about $65,000. We get 15 days after close and we already have an eye on a wee hunting cabin on an acre of land that’s going for only about $39,000. So long as it’s not dangerous, we’re taking it. ^____^ *happy dances* Tht’ll leave us plenty of money for moving expenses, etc.

Then we apparently have another party interested in coming through. Pretty sad that it took offering up $500 to whoever managed to get a sale on this house. Feels a bit like extortion to me, but ah well: We’re moving!!

House Situation

Wednesday, March 31st, 2004

Well, after loosing Sugar and ending up at the end of our rope, someone is finally interested in our home. We’re still waiting them to get back to us after talking to the bank and stuff, but it sounds like after 18 months our house is finally going to sell. I’ve been spending most of the evening looking up city stats around the area I grew up in… surprise, surprise… much much better. Lower unemployment rates, higher family incomes, lower crime rates, the whole shebang.

We’ve found a couple manufacturered houses we’re going to check on after calling the community and asking what their rules on pets are. It’s kind of strange… this place used to be a trashy trailer park when I was a kid… now it’s looking like it’s trying to become a different kind of place. Either way, though, if they’re going to have any serious rules about dogs – it’ll be a no-go. The good news is that we might have a mortgage company in the wings if we need to try for more money. It’s just sounding wonderful… most of the areas, the unemployment rates are clear down around 1% *falls over* JOBS!!! Glorious JOBS!

Spent most of yesterday mopping the floor and cleaning, same for today. Since they haven’t written an offer yet, our Open House for Sunday is still a go. Then, for most of this next week it’s going to be moving sale heaven. Anything like my unwanted comics, cards, anime, etc. are going to go up for sale there first and then I guess I’ll do the eBay thing or Half.com. Jasson still has to go through his collection, so I can’t speak for him. I just am wondering how the hell I’m going to scrounge up the money to renew my domain and space. I’ve gotten addicted to having complete control over my mail server and having a spot to toss junk.

Since it’s looking like the great packing spree is imminent, I suppose I should just give Izzy her graphics and apologize for not being able to finish. Frankly, my heart just hasn’t been with the internet. Especially after EverQuest decided to upgrade their graphics engine, which put the game out of reach for Jass and I to play. Depressing, to tell you the truth.

*glomps all around* Love you guys

Media Miner

Tuesday, December 3rd, 2002

Why didn’t I join Mediaminer.org sooner? God, I’ve gotten more constructive feedback there than I’ve ever gotten at FF.net!! ^_^ I’ve popped Dark Dreams and Tempus Temporis (from here on referred to as DD and TT, respectively) up there; while DD hasn’t gotten anything, TT is beginning to seem some nice activity.

Though now I think I’m going to have to trash Chapter 3 and try another approach… Kaiba is a bit out of character. However, by trashing what I have, I’ll have more room to sculpt the plotline I originally wanted. I think I’ll start the chapter out with Joey, expand on that scene a little, cut out the shop talk from Grandpa, and try to get to Yugi, Cipher, and the Sword’s first appearance before I hit nine pages. It’s going to be tough to keep Autumn to the background where she’s supposed to be; I love using new characters and she’s one of the most unique I’ve done. Most of my character’s have a huge flaw I love to have them circumvent – such as Rahne’s deafness, Hasumi’s immense lack of confidence – but Autumn is just, well, normal with a huge dash of hot-sauce and a healthy dose of proverbial burning the candle at both ends. I’m itching to use her, but she’s really mostly a character to flesh out the story a little.

In other news, our house has gone on the market! ^_^ We finally got tired of waiting and called our Realtor up yesterday morning. He had most of the paperwork already filled out, so the whole process went delightfully fast. He also offered up some suggestions to redecorating our house, something that needs to be done. Our house is a on the small side and we need to do a little to make it feel bigger.

And on the shopping front, since I’ve shrunk (I’m still dropping in sizes here. Those wonderful low-rise jeans I bought a few weeks ago are now too big *cry*) I’m still getting rid of clothes. It’s not like I’m dieting or anything, just working hard. >_< I’m having to eat something every two hours at work, and it’s not like it’s diet food either. So far I haven’t had the time to take pictures of my L, XL, and XXL T-Shirts my family ditched on me – Sorry, Sharra! They’re still your’s if you’re interested. Once you get what you want, I’ll post everything else here.

*yawn* However, I seriously could do without this cold weather and this schedule. I’m working until Friday this week, no days off. While I’ll love the paycheck (I’ll be at 40 hours), I hate feeling that exhausted. I come home so late that I just don’t feel like doing anything; I want to write in TT, play EverQuest, play my PS, read, and be human – not come home, get something to eat, and promptly crash.
